Three Tips for Planting a Successful Pollinator Garden

If you love watching bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds, then you should plant a pollinator garden! Here are my three tips to successfully planting a pollinator-friendly garden:

  1. Use plants with brightly colored, nectar-rich flowers that will attract your favorite pollinators. It’s best to use as many native plants as possible since they are especially attractive to pollinators. Planting in large blocks of color helps, too.

  2. Make sure the plants you use have a mix of flowers with bloom times that last from Spring all the way through Fall. This is important so you're offering a reliable source of food that will keep your pollinators coming back for more!

  3. Mix in some ornamental grasses and shrubs as they will provide crucial habitats for birds and beneficial bugs. Leave these plants standing over the Winter to provide year-round visual interest in your garden, too!

When you plant for pollinators, you help the environment! You’ll also create a beautiful landscape with layers of color and texture all year round. Let me know if you would like help planning out your pollinator garden!
